Set to the latest track by Teebs, which fills the gallery, SAFE SPACE uses painting, soft sculpture, chatbots, and sound to abstract the genre of landscape. Rather than distancing the viewer, this experimental abstraction sharpens perception—reshaping the corneas of our imagination, so to speak—to reveal the planet as it truly is: a spaceship that cocoons life even as it strains under internal pressures and the threat of collapse. A subtle thread of humor, characteristic to Meyerson, runs through the show, suggesting how the notion of a “safe space,” both physically and culturally, can be weaponized.
