This edition of Alpha Runner is dedicated to the memory of Jamie Tiller. An artist who over the last decade set the standard of selector, steward and luminary. I was shown the work of Jamie Tiller by a dear friend a half a decade or so ago, who eventually brought me to a Moony Habits party at Wilson where Tiller would be playing. I was completely floored. The music he played was like nothing I’d ever heard before. In the years since then I have heard him play live, release mixes, and publish discoveries via MFM that exclusively represent that feeling. Without any hindrance of genre or style he was truly on the journey for a tangible, global soul in the recordings of its obscure peoples. This mix will do nothing to represent the massive breadth of Tiller’s interests, I hesitate to make this dedication because of the monumentally diverse inspiration he releases upon the world. But woven here and there are songs I picked up from him and many sounds from the world he introduced me to. I’m heartbroken that this hero of mine is no longer corporeal, but his sonic spirit pervades in the air of creativity, inspiration and dedication to finding what has been waiting to be new.
