We join dubbed-up noise funk duo Coma World as they delve into the inspirations and sounds behind their 2nd album release ‘Coma Wong’ on ByrdOut Records. Coma World consists of Betamax (The Comet Is Coming) and Peter Bennie (Speakers Corner Quartet). The duo are joined on their 2nd album by collaborator and friend Raimund Wong (Floating World Pictures).
Coma World was inspired by the recollections of a friend of theirs who had been in a coma. And this ‘coma world’ is expressed as something woozy, unfocused, sometimes quite frightening, but anchored by a deep rhythm that evokes the sense of self that might help sufferers with their recovery.
